About Me

After teaching in the K-12 classroom for over a decade, I decided to pursue a PhD at a RU/VH Research University.  I did not expect the culture shock of academia and found there was limited support for the daily writing grind of graduate school.  I began reading all the grad school hint books, but found many of them to be inane and unhelpful, until I stumbled on Paul Silvia's How to Write a Lot.  I have since completed my PhD and published several articles and book reviews in peer-reviewed journals.

I started an Agraphia Writing Support Group during my first semester of coursework and have been coaching master and doctoral students through the various writing demands of grad school ever since.  Many former students (now professors) have contacted me about the guidelines and handouts I provided to the group.  Through this blog, I hope to support grad students and early career scholars around the world through posting handouts, links, advice, and general writing hints.

Finishing comprehensive exams - with the help of a friend.
